Offshore Hydrogen Logistics
Client: RWE Renewables GmbH
RWE developed a conceptual model of an offshore hydrogen platform without grid connection, which can be fed by up to 400 MW of renewable, offshore wind energy. KONGSTEIN was tasked with the first assessment of offshore logistics, including investigating Floating Storage and Offloading Units (FSO), as well as their conversion to Hydrogen, evaluation of various suitable vessel types, development of a loading and unloading concept, and calculation of maintenance OPEX.
Jones-Act approved feeder vessel solutions for U.S.A. offshore wind projects
Client: Green Shipping Line
KONGSTEIN is technical advisor to vessel-owner, Green Shipping Line, who are developing a Jones-Act approved feeder vessel solution for WTG installation of U.S. offshore wind farms. The vessel designed by DEKC Maritime, is pre-ABS approved and will decouple transport and installation activities. KONGSTEIN’s team of marine engineers and project managers is responsible for interface management and in that course works directly with turbine OEMs, T&I contractors, and ancillary equipment manufacturers amongst others to solve logistic challenges of U.S. offshore windfarms.
Hydrogen Concept Development – City of Cuxhaven’s DNA 2020
Client: City of Cuxhaven
The German city of Cuxhaven engaged KONGSTEIN to review their existing plan for implementing hydrogen into the city’s economy and draft a follow-up report comparing potential pilot projects with guidelines for implementation. KONGSTEIN’s hydrogen specialists analyzed Cuxhaven’s market potentials for hydrogen applications as well as comparable hydrogen projects. The focus was always placed on the local circumstances and existing economy of Cuxhaven.
